Community Development Opportunity

Added on 25 November 2010

The communities represented by the Community Councils of Creich and Ardgay are seeking to engage a Community Development Service.

The successful applicant will either be an individual or a service business with suitable experience and will be entirely responsible for their own employment. A knowledge and affinity for the locality, an ability to engage with local people and their interests and an understanding of some of the social and economic issues affecting fragile local communities will be essential qualities.

The service will be managed by a Development Trust representing the interests of the Creich and Ardgay communities.

Payment for the service will be £25,000 / annum and will be paid monthly. It is intended that this will be sufficient to cover all costs associated with the job including salary, travel, admin and media. The engagement will be fixed for 2 years only, although there will be an expectation that one of the roles of the service will be to attract additional funding, sufficient to sustain the position into the longer term. There will necessarily be a probationary 3 month settling in period in which the successful applicant will deliver the targets as set by the management group of the Development Trust.

The essential outcome of the project will be that the activities of the Community Development Service will stimulate economic, social, cultural and environmental regeneration within the communities to produce long lasting and sustainable improvement in the quality of the lives of the people who live within them; and that, by achieving some of those aims in the short term, it will set a course which can be built upon and enhanced in order to become a permanent, self funded position.

Closing date for applications will be Tuesday 30th November 2010 with interviews for selected applicants being conducted on mutually convenient dates thereafter.
